George Wallington

Staff Director (Shetland College UHI)

George has worked in the ICT Service at Shetland College UHI since 2012 and has been senior technician since 2019. He is a member of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT and is a Registered IT Technician. During his time at the college he has been involved with many local, and UHI-wide initiatives to modernise and safeguard the college IT infrastructure and has helped lead several of these projects.

As a student at Shetland College UHI from 2007 to 2012 he studied for his Computing degree, completing it with distinction, before undertaking a modern apprenticeship as IT Technician which led to a permanent position.

George is a sitting member on several college committees, including the recently formed Operations & Estates Committee, and has had an active role in the college’s Business Continuity Planning group in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
